February 26, 2018, 12:00 p.m. Eastern, 60 minutes

Webinar Faculty:  Marla McCowan, Director of Training, Outreach, & Support, Michigan Indigent Defense Commission

About the Webinar:  Criminal defense attorneys must understand the ethics of using social media and electronic communications in their practice and beyond. This session will help attorneys choose among policies for their office, and implement best practices for the regular use of technology to communicate at work and in public.

About the Faculty: Marla McCowan is the Director of Training, Outreach and Support at the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission. She previously served as a public defender at the appellate level for over sixteen years at the Michigan State Appellate Defender Office, nearly four of which included overseeing grant funded training for indigent defense practitioners around Michigan in her capacity as the Manager of SADO’s Criminal Defense Resource Center and Training Director at SADO. Marla is dedicated to training assigned counsel through her participation on the Criminal Defense Attorneys Of Michigan's Education Committee, and is a member of the Executive Committee for the NLADA’s National Alliance of Indigent Defense Educators.
