Strengthening DEIJ Voices on the Team with Jai Simpson-Joseph

About the Meetup: DEIJ (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice): Transforming Principles to Practice. Whether a team is responsive or resistent, how does one advocate for the values of DEIJ on the defense team? A discussion with S. Jai-Simpson-Joseph, NAPD Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice.

Meetup Facilitator: Jai Simpson-Joseph

About the Facilitator:
Jai Simpson-Joseph is a change agent, advising communities, corporations, government, and nonprofits in actualizing their equity initiatives and driving these transformative processes. She is a graduate of Stanford Law School with over twenty years of developed expertise as a national thought leader and strategist in social justice and transformation management. As a diversity, equity, and inclusion specialist and Subject Matter Expert in this arena, her journey began as a voice in the multicultural, intersectionality fields, integrating these values into the work of equity disparities, anti-racism, and social justice. Jai Simpson-Joseph has uniquely leveraged her training as an attorney, strategic coach, and my work in the nonprofit, legal, corporate, and juvenile justice sectors to emerge as a special brand of DEIJ expert. The course of her justice work has found her on the frontlines, working alongside highly vulnerable and underrepresented populations. Jai Simpson-Joseph collaborates with teams to design creative advocacy solutions, partnering with and training communities and staff for sustainable and transformative outcomes. In the process, she has developed specialized curricula, DEIJ methodologies, and initiatives to support systemic change across the board. In recent years, it has also been her passion to train and facilitate teams, companies, and stakeholder communities in collaboratively developing systems, practices, and policies that support DEIJ in the workplace and life space.
