Part 2: Supporting Well-Being in Public Defense (Nov. 8-Dec. 13, 2021)(6 weeks)
(Part 1 Sustaining Well-Being in Public Defense is a prerequisite to part 2)
Small Group: Wednesdays 5-615 Pacific/8-9 Eastern
Target audience: People working to create public defense culture supportive of well-being—office leaders, trainers, wellness committee members, and individuals motivated to support wellness within public defense at an office or systemic level.
Course description: The impacts of trauma and chronic stress have continual impact on those working in public defense. Office leaders, trainers, and supervisors who support the well-being of all staff will enhance the strength and resilience of those employees to provide energetic, zealous representations of the people we represent. This course will move beyond strategies of self-care to share, design, incubate and launch initiatives to support public defender well-being.
Course Learning Objectives:
-Participants will review and design surveys, assessments and evaluations that assess well-being and support development of goals and practices to sustain well-being.
-Participants will utilize the enhanced self-awareness and knowledge developed in Part 1 of the course series, to think and act systemically to build a broader culture of support within public defense.
-The small group will be utilized to share and incubate ideas and models to launch within PD offices.
-Participants will use wellness concepts (trauma, burnout, moral injury) to inform internal communication practices, and to advocate for policies, practices and resources to support wellbeing in public defense.
Course format: Each week for 6 weeks, there is approximately 1 hour of materials to review at a time convenient to you, and one scheduled weekly 75 minute small group meeting.

NAPD doesn't apply for CLE or track attendance to provide certifications for our live webinars, conferences and online courses. This helps us keep the price as low as possible and avoids the disruption of the flow of the training required by many states to verify attendance.

We are able to provide CLE for dozens of recorded sessions from previous training for NAPD members in most states.   These sessions are only $10 per credit hour.   For more details, log in with your NAPD credentials at this link.
