May 20, 2021 from 1:00pm-2:30pm Eastern

Webinar Faculty: Jennifer Kamorowski

About the Webinar: This webinar will present attendees with information about risk assessment tools and how they are used in criminal justice decision-making. Attendees will learn some of the basic logic behind risk assessment tools, potential advantages and disadvantages of this type of information in criminal defense, how bias might influence risk assessment, and possible strategies to challenge unfavorable risk assessment.

About the Faculty: Jennifer Kamorowski is an assistant professor of criminal justice at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. She conducted her PhD research in a joint program with Maastricht University in the Netherlands and Gothenburg University in Sweden. The title of her PhD thesis is “Risk in the Eye of the Beholder: Cognitive Bias and Risk Assessment Instruments.” She will defend her thesis at Maastricht University later this year. Jennifer also has a law degree, is a licensed attorney in New Hampshire, and has a master’s degree in criminology from George Mason University.
