January 26, 2023 at 1:30 pm Eastern | 12:30 pm Central | 11:30 am Mountain | 10:30 am Pacific

Webinar Faculty: Drs. Joette James and Alex Rodrigues

About the Webinar: This presentation will address what makes for a good neuropsychological referral, how neuropsychological referrals can be germane to competency, Miller hearings, and psychosexual evaluations, as well as the role of neuropsychology in developing mitigation for developmental disorders.

About the Faculty:
Dr. Alex Rodrigues is a forensic psychologist and operates a private consultation practice where he completes a variety of forensic evaluations, including sex offense-related evaluations, competency to stand trial, insanity, and juvenile transfer assessments. Dr. Rodrigues has been qualified as an expert and testified in various jurisdictions. The Colorado Sex Offender Management Board (CSOMB) has recognized Dr. Rodrigues as an approved provider/evaluator for both juvenile and adult populations. Additionally, he is a volunteer participant for CSOMB’s best practice committee, reviewing emerging practices for adoption and implementation. He previously served as a psychologist on a pre-trial unit at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, D.C. as well as a member of the hospital’s forensic consultation service, completing both competency to stand trial and risk assessments. Recently, Dr. Rodrigues opened a satellite office in Colorado to complement his practice in the D.C. metropolitan area. Aside from court-related evaluations, Dr. Rodrigues provides consultation to law enforcement, government agencies, and corporations on mental health/violence related issues in the workspace.

Dr. Joette James completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, her internship at Harvard Medical School/Boston Children’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, and a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology at Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) in Washington, DC. After completing her postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. James was employed at CNMC as a staff neuropsychologist for seven years, where she participated in the training of graduate students, interns, and postdoctoral residents. During that time she also served as the chief neuropsychologist at HSC Pediatric Center, a sub-acute rehabilitation facility in Washington, DC affiliated with CNMC. She held an appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at George Washington University. Dr. James is board-certified in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) and currently serves on the DC Board of Psychology. Through the Stixrud Group, Dr. James provides individualized clinical assessments for individuals of all ages with neurodevelopmental disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities, and Intellectual Disability, as well as for individuals with acquired injuries to the brain. She also maintains a private forensic consultation and evaluation practice and has testified as an expert on the federal, state, and local level on matters including death penalty litigation (Atkins cases), juvenile life without parole, competency to stand trial, juvenile waiver/transfer, and general mitigation.

NAPD doesn't apply for CLE or track attendance to provide certifications for our live webinars, conferences and online courses. This helps us keep the price as low as possible and avoids the disruption of the flow of the training required by many states to verify attendance.

We are able to provide CLE for dozens of recorded sessions from previous training for NAPD members in most states.   These sessions are only $10 per credit hour.   For more details, log in with your NAPD credentials at this link.
