NAPD Racial Justice Conference

Oct 31-Nov 4, 2022
Renaissance Montgomery Hotel, Montgomery, AL
Registration Deadline - Monday, October 24 at 12:00 pm Eastern

Scholarships available, apply here by Oct 1.

This year NAPD returns to Montgomery, AL, one of the homes of the Civil Rights Movement, for our 2nd annual Racial Justice Conference. NAPD ‘s Racial Justice Conference will include immersive experiences, educational opportunities, and opportunities to enhance racial litigation practices.
The Racial Justice Conference, in its second year, will include highly respected faculty from across the nation. The conference is rooted in the commitment to challenge public defenders to consider three areas that impact their pursuit of justice for clients of color:

1. How they as individuals approach race;
2. How public defender offices address race in their workplaces; and
3. How to effectively litigate racial issues.

The event will take place October 31-November 4, 2022, in Montgomery, Alabama. Alabama is filled with a rich history of civil rights. The conference includes a visit to both the Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice.

The Legacy Museum is located on the site of a former warehouse where Black people were forced to labor in bondage.  Compelling visuals and data-rich exhibits provide a one-of-a-kind opportunity to investigate America's history of racial injustice and its legacy — to draw dynamic connections across generations of Americans impacted by the tragic history of racial inequality.

The National Memorial for Peace and Justice is home to the monument for more than 4,400 African American men, women, and children who were hanged, burned alive, shot, drowned, and beaten to death by white mobs between 1877 and 1950. On a six-acre site atop a rise overlooking Montgomery, the national lynching memorial is a sacred space for truth-telling and reflection about racial terror in America and its legacy.

  4. All attendees are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated. We are unable to require vaccinations due to Alabama COVID Vaccinations Passport Law.
***NAPD doesn't apply for CLE or track attendance to provide certifications for our live webinars, conferences and online courses. This helps us keep the price as low as possible and avoids the disruption of the flow of the training required by many states to verify attendance.

We are able to provide CLE for dozens of recorded sessions from previous training for NAPD members in most states.   These sessions are only $10 per credit hour.   For more details, log in with your NAPD credentials at this link.
