TERMED TELECONFERENCE COORDINATOR: REMOTE PARALEGAL SUPPORT
<span class="fontstyle0">The Federal Public Defender, Northern District of California is accepting applications for the&nbsp;position of a <strong>Remote Videoconference Coordinator Paralegal.</strong> The Defender operates under the&nbsp;authority of the Criminal Justice Act, U.S.C. &sect; 3006A, to provide defense services in federal&nbsp;criminal cases. The term will begin upon&nbsp;hire, and will conclude on September 30, 2022 (NOT TO EXCEED).<br /> <span class="fontstyle0">This position receives a locality pay adjustment for the Northern California Bay Area.</span><br /> <span class="fontstyle2">The Paralegal will provide assistance in the representation of indigent clients in federal criminal&nbsp;proceedings. Since the beginning of the pandemic, attorney ability to contact in-custody clients&nbsp;has been entirely dependent on phone and videoconference connection via Zoom. The&nbsp;individual&rsquo;s primary duties include, but are not limited to, preparation and maintenance of the&nbsp;daily videoconference schedule, communication between attorneys and the jail, and problemsolving when necessary. They will be supporting all attorneys in the Northern District of<br /> California with clients at the jail, communicating with deputies at the jail, and they will work&nbsp;with the court which handles phone conferences in getting attorneys in contact with their clients.<br /> <br /> Among other assignments, the position requires schedule verification and preparation from&nbsp;12:00-12:30pm and 4:00-5:00pm every day of the week, and 5:00-6:00pm on Monday, Tuesday,&nbsp;and Thursday(This schedule may vary in the future). In addition to making the schedule, the&nbsp;position requires real-time troubleshooting with attorneys and Jail staff; this will require the<br /> individual to be on-call 7 days a week. The total workload will come out to about 20 hours a&nbsp;week.<br /> Candidates must possess a high school diploma. A college degree is preferred. Candidates must&nbsp;have strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.&nbsp;Demonstrated expertise and experience with Adobe Acrobat or any other PDF application and&nbsp;Excel is required. The individual will also be managing a web-based application called Acuity,<br /> which has settings the individual will be responsible for understanding and configuring.&nbsp;Appointments are in high demand and constantly changing due to quarantines; immediate&nbsp;responsiveness via phone and email, and agility to address problems are critical skills for this&nbsp;position.&nbsp;<br /> This individual will be stationed in the San Francisco office, but will provide support to AFPD&rsquo;s&nbsp;or CJA attorneys in each of the three offices of the Federal Public Defender. </span><span class="fontstyle0">Occasional travel&nbsp;to the San Francisco, San Jose or Oakland offices may be necessary. </span><span class="fontstyle2">Travel will be&nbsp;reimbursed.</span></span><br style=" font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; " /> &nbsp;
