SALARY: Entry level is $108,139.20 - $129,771.20 Annually
BENEFITS: 100% Employer Paid PERS Pension Retirement. Minimal Fee for Employee Health, Vision, Dental, and Life Insurance. Bar dues and malpractice insurance paid for by Elko County.
TRAINING: In-house training program for new attorneys. Includes mentorship with trial skills, legal knowledge, and case review. Regular Statewide training programs from the State. Local and out-of-town CLE opportunities.
  • After sufficient legal experience, attorneys are given an option to attend a nationally recognized training program.

STAFF: The office consists of 9 attorneys, a fulltime social worker, and caseworker support staff.
PRACTICE AREAS: The office provides legal representation to indigent clients. This includes both adult and juvenile work.
  1. Misdemeanor and Felony trails from initial appearance to sentencing. Includes pretrial motions, various hearings, and trials.
  2. Juvenile delinquency.
  3. Dependency cases.
  4. Appeals from all matters listed above. Appeals made to District Court, Nevada Court of Appeals, and the Nevada Supreme Court.

Requirements REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate degree. The ideal candidate will possess a NV bar license. If the applicant does not currently possess a NV Bar license, they must qualify to practice law in Nevada pursuant to Nevada Supreme Court Rule 49.9. Must also take and successfully pass the Nevada Bar exam within 18 months of employment. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
